The foundation of training in this class includes characteristics of the client group of adults of advanced age and with dementia. Areas learned include activities of daily living, safety risks, environmental considerations, disease processes, communication skills, nutritional needs, and vocational abilities.

The foundation of this training includes characteristics of types of disabilities, associated health concerns, treatments, societal attitudes towards developmental disabilities, and care staff services and supports needed for individuals with disabilities.

This course training is specific to caring for adults with mental and/or substance use disorders. Training includes physical, social, and mental health concerns, caregiver support, safety risks, and common characteristics of adults suffering from mental and/or substance use disorders.

Every employee plays a role in helping residents with physical or cognitive limitations proceed in an emergency. This course teaches how to respond rapidly and calmly during a fire emergency.

All employees have a legal obligation to maintain the protection and confidentiality of each resident’s personal health information. This course covers written, verbal, and electronic communication, photos, images, and audio recordings of residents as protected health information.

All employees' responsibilities include providing adults personal care, services, and treatments based on the assessment and care plan documenting the resident's needs, abilities, physical, and mental condition.

This course provides a foundational understanding of the dietary needs in assisted living that includes the determination of nutritional needs, menu planning, food preparation, food sanitation, and the prevention of foodborne illnesses.

This course provides an introduction to activities of daily living skills; bathing, eating, dressing, oral hygiene, nail and foot care, toileting and incontinence care, positioning & body alignment, mobility, and transferring of residents in assisted living based on current abilities.

This course is for employees that manage and administer medications to residents. Included are minimum requirements for following the medication administration process steps for each drug type, using the six rights of medication administration, proper documentation, how to prevent medication errors, recognizing common side effects of drug classifications, proper storage, audits, and disposals of medications, and recognizing drug diversion and reporting suspicions.   

The foundation of job responsibilities of all employees is to prevent, protect and report allegations and incidents of misconduct toward vulnerable adults. This course provides requirements for preventing and reporting resident abuse, neglect, misappropriation of resident property, and financial exploitation.  Also included is how to identify caregiver misconduct, information used in the investigation of allegations, reporting, and filing requirements.

Residents in assisted living have rights guaranteed to them by both state and federal laws. One of these rights is the right to receive prompt and adequate treatment. Not only is this a right but an expectation of residents, guardians, family members, and others involved in each resident’s life. This course provides valuable information for caregivers on defining prompt and adequate treatment along with how and when to provide it to residents.

This course provides strategies for caregivers to be able to effectively recognize, prevent, manage, and respond to challenging behaviors for adults with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and managed mental illness.    Rated 1.0 Hour

This course is based on the foundation of general rights, legal and civil rights of residents, house rules, coercion, retaliation, self-determination, and complaint & grievance procedures as it pertains to residents.
