Mobility gives people the opportunity to socialize, be active, and be as independent as possible. If mobility becomes limited, complications can result that affect a resident’s health. This course addresses health concerns, pressure sores, and incontinence related to mobility issues.

The learner will be able to:

• Recall the health effects of sitting or lying in the same position for too long.
• Describe how pressure sores develop in inactive residents and ways to prevent sores.
• Recognize ways to care for immobile residents to reduce the potential for health problems, including incontinence.
