This course focuses on residents with physical disabilities that impact their ability to independently care for themselves. The types of disabilities reviewed include sight, hearing, and mobility issues as well as chronic pain.

The learner will be able to:

• Recognize how physical disabilities affect caregiving.
• Delineate common types of physical disabilities and the effect they have on the resident.
• Discuss strategies when working with people who have hearing, visual, mobility, or pain.
• Recognize how to assist adults with physical and other disabilities to maintain dignity and respect.
