Caring for Residents with Mobility Needs
Description
Mobility gives people the opportunity to socialize, be active, and be as independent as possible. If mobility becomes limited, serious complications can result that affect a resident’s health. This course addresses health concerns, pressure sores, and incontinence that are related to mobility deficiencies.
Learner Objectives
The learner will be able to:
- Recall the health effects of sitting or lying in the same position for too long.
- Describe how pressure sores develop in inactive residents and ways to prevent sores.
- Recognize ways to care for immobile residents to reduce the potential for health problems, including incontinence.
