Description

A urinary catheter is a flexible or rigid hollow tube that passes into the bladder through the urethra to draw urine. Some catheters are left in place, while others are removed after urine is drained from the bladder. This course reviews the urinary system and how to care for in-dwelling catheters.

  • Explain the basics of the in-dwelling urinary catheter and care.
  • Recognize the risks of urinary incontinence and infections.
  • Recall how to properly care for a catheter and how to prevent infections in persons with catheters.
